Dr. Fetien Abay Wins the AU Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Award

A pioneer staff of Mekelle University and the Director of the Institute of Environment, Gender and Development Studies Dr. Fetien Abay has won the AU Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards Program of the year 2014. The award is a result of a rigorous evaluation process that took place to nominate and honor great scientific achievement and contribution through science for the socio-economic development in Africa, states the congratulatory letter from the African Union.

Dr. Fetien Abay, together with the other three women recipients, has received her award in a colorful ceremony that commenced on Dec. 19th 2014 at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

Many partners and international organizations with whom Dr. Fetien Abay is working are forwarding their congratulatory messages. Many in their messages have shared their happiness and their belief that the award will give Dr. Fetien more energy and recognition to further contribute to food security and overall agricultural development in Ethiopia.

Dr. Fetien, has been and will strongly keep on to give more enthusiasm and motivation for other women in Ethiopia and Africa. The Mekelle University management hereby congratulates Dr. Fetien Abay on her achievement of this prestigious award.
